Virtual hair try-on: test your cut before you book
Virtual hair try-on from a selfie: test cuts, colours, nails and brows in our free Studio, then book the look you love in Casablanca.
Go short or keep the length? Try caramel or stay brunette? Before you commit to a look you will wear for months, you can now do a virtual hair try-on for free, from a simple selfie. That is what the Studio on the Chicas website is for: seeing the result on your own face before you book. Here is how to use it, how to get a reliable preview and how to turn it into a real appointment in the salon.
Virtual hair try-on: how the Studio works
The Studio is a free tool on our site: open the free Studio. It is simple:
- Take a selfie with your phone, or upload a photo.
- Pick a category: cut, colour, nails, brows or makeup.
- Scroll through the options and see the preview on your face.
You don't need to know the technical name of a haircut: you look, compare and keep what you like.
What you can try
Haircuts
Bob, lob, layers, fringe, short cuts: this is where the simulator helps most. A cut changes the balance of your face, and what looks great on Instagram may not suit you. Seeing a bob at your jawline or a fringe on your forehead makes the decision easier. Not sure where to start? Our haircut for face shape guide explains which lines balance which features.
Hair colour
Trying hair colour online lets you compare honey balayage, blonde highlights, caramel or a deep brunette against your skin tone and eyes. This is often where clients change their minds, one way or the other.
Nails, brows and makeup
Nail shapes (almond, square, ballerina), designs, brow shapes and makeup looks: handy before a wedding or a party, so you arrive with a clear idea.
The right selfie for a reliable preview
A preview is only as good as the photo. A few rules:
- Light from the front, ideally near a window, never backlit.
- Face straight on, looking at the lens, head not tilted.
- Hair off your face or tied back, so the virtual cut sits properly.
- No filter or beauty mode: they change your skin tone and distort colours.
- Little or no makeup if you want to test makeup looks.
Take two or three photos and keep the sharpest. Also take one with your hair as you usually wear it: the before/after comparison says a lot.
What a simulator can't tell you
A preview is still a simulation. In the salon, your stylist will consider things a photo doesn't show:
- Texture and density: a very structured cut behaves differently on fine, curly or thick hair.
- Your starting colour: going from dark brown to light blonde often takes several lightening steps to protect the hair.
- Hair condition: very damaged ends may need a treatment first, such as a protein treatment or the RP hair treatment, before colour.
- Cowlicks and growth patterns, which affect fringes and short cuts.
The Studio helps you choose a direction. The consultation in the salon makes it realistic.
From the Studio to your appointment
When you love a preview, take a screenshot and keep it. You can play with the Studio in the evening and ask a sister or friend before deciding. On the day, show it to your stylist or nail technician: it is clearer than a long explanation. You can also send it ahead on WhatsApp with a question.
From preview to appointment at Chicas

Frequently asked questions
Is the Studio free?
Yes, the Studio is a free tool on the website. Try as many cuts, colours and nail looks as you like before booking.
Will my salon result look exactly like the preview?
The preview shows the shape and shade. The real result depends on your texture, starting colour and hair condition, which is why we talk it through before starting.
Can I try a very light colour if I'm brunette?
Yes, to see if it suits you. In the salon, though, major lightening is sometimes done over several sessions to protect the hair.
Should I take the photo without makeup?
For cuts and colour it isn't required, but natural skin and good light give a more accurate preview.
