Microblading in Casablanca vs brow glazing and waxing

Microblading in Casablanca, brow glazing or waxing? Who each suits, how long it lasts, healing and precautions. A clear guide to choose for your brows.

Sparse brows, thin after years of plucking, or full but unruly? Before booking microblading in Casablanca, it is worth comparing the three main options: brow waxing or threading, brow glazing, and microblading. They solve different problems, and the right choice depends mostly on the brows you start with.

    Brow shaping: threading or wax?

Shaping cleans and defines. It removes what is out of place; it does not add anything. It is the base of every groomed brow.

    • Threading is a traditional, very precise technique, popular for fine hairs.
    • Wax is quick and clean, and gives a sharp line underneath and between the brows. It is excellent for regular upkeep.
    • Tweezers handle the final details, hair by hair.

The classic trap is over-plucking to follow a trend. Hairs removed for years sometimes grow back less. If you want fuller brows, leave them alone for six to eight weeks, then have a professional redraw the shape.

Brow glazing: who is it for?

Glazing, also called brow lamination, softens the brow hairs and sets them in one direction, usually upwards. Brows look fuller and neater, with a very natural brushed-up effect.

    • Ideal if your brows are fairly full but unruly, with hairs going in every direction.
    • Less suited if you have real gaps: glazing tames the hairs you have, it does not create new ones.
    • How long it lasts: usually four to six weeks, depending on growth and care.
    • Aftercare: no water or makeup on the brows for 24 hours, then daily brushing and a drop of nourishing oil or serum.

If your skin is reactive, ask for a patch test before the treatment.

    Microblading: how does it work?

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique. Using a hand tool with fine needles, the artist places pigment in the upper layers of the skin, drawing strokes that imitate real hairs. The result is a denser, better-shaped brow that still looks neat when you wake up or step out of the hammam.

    The steps

    1. Consultation: shape, colour, expectations, contraindications.
    2. Pre-drawing in pencil, which you approve in the mirror before any pigment goes in.
    3. Pigmentation stroke by stroke, with a topical numbing product applied according to the salon's practice.
    4. Touch-up a few weeks later, usually between four and eight weeks, to set the colour and fill strokes that took less. That is why brides plan it months ahead (see our bridal beauty timeline).

    What to expect and ask

The blade or needles should be sterile and single-use, opened in front of you. You can also ask for a pigment patch test before the session, especially if you have reactive skin or allergies.

    How long does it last?

Microblading usually fades gradually over one to two years. It tends to fade faster on oily skin, with a lot of sun, or if you use exfoliating acids. A yearly refresh keeps the strokes crisp.

Healing: the part not to skip

In the first days the colour looks darker and stronger. That is normal; it softens as the skin heals. For a good result:

    • No water, makeup or cream on the brows for about a week, except the product you are given.
    • No hammam, sauna, pool or sea during healing, around ten days.
    • No direct sun: wear a cap or hat.
    • Do not pick the small scabs; let them fall off on their own.
    • Sleep on your back for the first nights if you can.

    When to avoid microblading

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, blood thinners, current or recent isotretinoin, a tendency to keloid scars, a skin condition on the area, or poorly controlled diabetes: in these cases, talk to your doctor before planning anything. A good salon will ask you these questions before starting.

How to choose for your brows

    • Full but messy brows: glazing, plus waxing for upkeep.
    • Decent brows that just need cleaning up: eyebrow waxing every three to five weeks.
    • Sparse brows, gaps, missing tails: microblading.
    • Unsure about the shape: ask for the pencil pre-drawing and approve it in the mirror before anything else.

    Brows at Chicas

At Chicas Beauty & Spa in Aïn Sebaâ, there are three brow options: Eyebrows waxing (about 15 minutes) for upkeep, Glazing (about 90 minutes) to tame unruly hairs, and Microblading (about 150 minutes) to add density. For a complete eye look, a lash lift pairs well with glazed brows; our lash lift vs extensions guide helps you choose. Frequently asked questions

    Does microblading hurt?

Most people feel scratching and mild discomfort, depending on sensitivity. A topical numbing product is usually used, according to the salon's practice.

    How long does microblading last?

Usually one to two years, with a touch-up a few weeks after the first session. It fades faster on oily or very sun-exposed skin.

Brow glazing or microblading: which one?

Glazing tames existing hairs for four to six weeks. Microblading draws hair strokes where they are missing. For sparse brows, microblading is the answer.

Can I wax my brows after microblading?

Yes, once the skin has fully healed, upkeep waxing around the shape is possible and even recommended.
