Wedding guest makeup: a look that lasts all night

Wedding guest makeup tips: match your look to your caftan or dress, make it last all night and plan your party day in Casablanca, from hammam to nails.

A wedding, an engagement, a family celebration or a friend's birthday: wedding guest makeup plays by its own rules. It has to look like you, match your outfit, survive a warm hall and hours of dancing, and still photograph well under a flash at 2 a.m. Here is how we approach it in the salon in Casablanca, and what you can prepare on your side.

Wedding guest makeup vs everyday makeup

Day makeup is about freshness and a light touch. Wedding guest makeup has to last for hours under strong lights, often in a hot room. Three things really change:

    • Skin prep goes further: hydration, a primer suited to your skin type, and targeted concealing instead of a heavy foundation.
    • Intensity goes up, especially on eyes or lips, because evening light and camera flash wash colour out.
    • Setting is done in thin layers: powder only where you shine, then a setting spray.

The goal is not to turn you into someone else. A great guest look is you, in evening mode. If you are the bride, our bridal makeup trial checklist is the guide for you.

Matching your makeup to the outfit: caftan, takchita or dress

Your outfit drives most decisions. Before your appointment, take a daylight photo of your caftan or dress: it is the most useful thing you can show your makeup artist.

    Embroidered caftan or rich takchita

When the fabric is already busy (gold embroidery, beading, deep shades like burgundy, emerald or midnight blue), keep the face balanced. Intense eyes in bronze or chocolate tones, a slightly winged liner and a soft rosy nude lip let the outfit shine.

    Simple dress or solid colour

A plain dress or single-colour caftan leaves room for something bolder: a red or raspberry lip with softer eyes, or a gentle smoky eye with fine shimmer in the centre of the lid.

    Don't forget your jewellery

Gold jewellery: warm tones, bronze, peach. Silver: rosy shades, plum, taupe. Not a strict rule, but the whole look feels more put together.

    Making it last all night

A look that lasts all night starts the day before, not just on the day.

    1. The day before: moisturise well, skip harsh scrubs and don't try a brand-new product.
    2. On the day: arrive with clean skin, no rich cream or oil, and brows shaped a few days earlier (not that morning, to avoid redness).
    3. During the party: blot shine with blotting papers instead of piling on powder, which ends up looking cakey.
    4. Lips: keep your lipstick in your bag and touch up after dinner.

For summer parties or very warm halls, we use lighter textures and waterproof products around the eyes. If you have sensitive skin or known allergies, tell us before we start so we can adapt, and if in doubt a small patch test is the safe move.

    Planning your party day

Guest makeup takes about an hour at the salon. Think about the order:

    • Hair or makeup first? If you are getting a blow-dry, we often do it first, so the dryer's heat doesn't make your base sweat.
    • Nails: book them one or two days ahead. Semilac gel polish lasts for weeks and won't chip while you get ready.
    • Hammam: two or three days before, never right before makeup, as skin stays flushed and warm for a while. Book it before any lash service.
    • Lashes: a lash lift after the hammam, a day or two before the party, opens up the eyes and makes mascara easier.

In wedding season, especially summer, weekend slots in Casablanca fill fast. Book as soon as you know the date.

    Guest makeup at Chicas

At Chicas Beauty & Spa in Aïn Sebaâ, Guest makeup is built for weddings and evening events, while Day makeup (about 45 minutes) suits daytime occasions. To complete your prep you can add a Blow-dry, Semilac gel polish, a Lash lift or a hammam; the Royal Hammam ends with a blow-dry. Before you come, try looks on your selfie in the Studio's makeup preview, then browse the treatment menu.

    Frequently asked questions

How long before the party should I get my makeup done?

Aim to finish about one to two hours before you leave. Your base has time to settle and you are not rushing to get dressed.

    Should I arrive without makeup?

Yes, come with clean skin, no foundation or heavy cream. If you wear contact lenses, put them in before eye makeup.

What's the difference between day and guest makeup?

Day makeup is light and natural, designed for daylight. Guest makeup is more detailed and better set, built to last the evening and look good in photos.

    Will I need touch-ups?

Keep a lipstick, blotting papers and a small mirror in your bag. With good prep, that is enough for the night.
